What are you like when no one is looking?
Usually they are vacant when I clean on the weekends and the parking lots are empty. That was always the case except for one of my accounts. Every weekend one of the offices had a car parked out front. Sometimes when I left the area or when I was entering I see a businessman outside smoking so I always smiled and waved and he did the same.
After three years of smiling and waving to this stranger I received a phone call. This man was an accountant and had his high school son cleaning his office. Now his son had graduated high school and was leaving the area for college. He needed a new office cleaner he could trust. He chose me and I’ve been cleaning his office for over a year now and I charge $45/week.
Smiling and waving is not a marketing strategy that I use to market my services. But it is a good lesson to remember to always be nice and that the little things do make a difference.
What have you done to be open and friendly to others?
